Nuanced support can be provided and insight shared from someone with a similar world view. It can also breakdown the barrier of asking for true supportive help without fear of bias. I did not come from a family that went to college let alone pursued medical careers. Stepping in to fill that role for others who may need it is incredibly fulfilling.
